Kitchen Towel

This class is ideal for intermediate sewing levels or even if you have lots of experience.

​

Complete 1-2 hanging kitchen towels in just one morning! These "pull through" hanging towels can be removed with just one hand (watch video). They are also "toddler proof"  since a child would pull on the towel instead of the band, making it tighter. They are fast, easy, low in cost to make and make gorgeous gifts! Please see supplies to bring to class below.

BASIC SUPPLIES

Scissors, pins, 45 mm rotary cutter. Susan recommends the Olfa Splash rotary cutter due to easy changing of blades. See photo in photo gallery.

 

MATERIAL SUPPLIES

Option 1: One color towel topper with topper and band being same color - 1/2 yard of 100% cotton fabric

 

Option 2: Two color topper with topper one color and band a different color

1/2 yard cotton fabric for topper PLUS

1/4 yard cotton fabric for band

 

Thin fusible interfacing, one half yard. (This will be supplied by instructor.)

 

One kitchen towel (makes two topper kitchen towels). They measure about 15 to 20 inches wide and about 20-25 inches long. Printed cotton towels are best. Terry cloth and micro fiber towels are difficult to work with.

SEWING MACHINES

Each student must have their own machine during class. The ARC does have machines available for use if you do not own one. We encourage you to bring in your own sewing machine as you will be more familiar with it. lease make sure it is in good working order prior to class.
